Episode 10: Lessons Learned

We dive into some interesting information regarding previously held truths in tactical combat medicine and how it's changing with peer on peer conflict. Our fight is going to look more similar to what we're seeing in Europe with long evacuation times and limited supplies. Learning from the bloody lessons of others is key to not making the same mistakes ourselves.

I look at it as a hard reality unfortunately, kinda like triage. Do I want to be point man or first guy in the door? Yes. Will my guys let me? No. If you’re let’s say an MD/DO, APP for a crew and you get schwacked doing something that someone else could/should have been doing, you just screwed everyone on the crew. Another reason to crossload medics is to subvert enemy PID, and keep your medic from getting shot right after your RTO. It’s hard to hear that you’ve stay in the rear, but it’s understandable to a point. Have you read Regan Lyon’s thesis on guerrilla medical systems? It explores the topic of how far forward to deploy providers, as well as other topics.
